My #2 presentation

PAL

Purpose -To introduce my classmates what this meditation is and to enable them to practice it. Another purpose is just to make them laugh.

Audience - My teacher Mark and the 8 classmates in the Advanced English class.

Logistics - 5 minutes limit + short Q&A with my slides.

MY GOALS

1.Preparation/Rehearsal
I would like to write some words to remind me what I have to say next. Usually, I do not use the script especially in Japanese but I found that I sometimes tend to forget what I am going to say in English.

2.Content/Overall Impression
My topic sounds a little weired for many people so I want them to rethink the value of the meditation.

3.Voice
Calm, calm, calm. When I am excited, I often speak so fast. I really want to avoid it in this presentation.

4.Body Language
I just want to concentrate on to standing straight. I read a book about the tactics to make a good presentation and the author says in that book that standing straight is the most important thing to do.

5.Visuals
I would like to use funny, impressive, a little weird pictures in order to get attentions.

My favorite joke #1

Here is the joke I showed in the last class.
I found this joke in Japanese at first when I was a high school student.
Since then, this joke is the king of the joke for me.

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'
Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The President.
Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.
We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.
He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.
So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother asleep.
Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.
He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father,
'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'
The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies,
'The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep.
The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.

Introduction ACTP Analysis

Shai Agassi's bold plan for electric cars

Attention:
He started his presentation from a question but it does not be as an attention-getter because there is few interval between the question and the next phrase. In his next phrase, he told his story why and how he has engaged the issue. It could be an attention-getter. It, however, does not function well as a good attention-getter.

Credibility:
Through his speech, I can guess he is a kind of researcher but he does not mention his career clearly.

Topic:
In his introduction, I could understand he was interested in what kind of energy is suitable to cars instead of gas but I could not get the idea. In fact, he does not mention the alternative instead of gas in his introduction.

Preview
He does not include his idea of the alternative in his introduction hence there is no preview of his main idea in sense.
